Friends for Good, a leading Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to combating loneliness, is thrilled to announce an extraordinary fundraising endeavour by Craig Donovan, a dedicated physiotherapist from Tasmania. Craig is embarking on an epic journey, walking 500 miles across Scotland, pushing a wheelbarrow every step of the way, to raise awareness and funds for Friends for Good.
Craig Donovan's unique and challenging initiative will see him traverse the picturesque and rugged landscapes of Scotland, across the North Coast 500 track, highlighting the spirit of perseverance and community support. His journey will start on 12 June 2024, with an expected end date of 3 July 2024. Craig says that “it’s more about the journey and building connections, then breaking a record or doing something first.”
Craig has always been passionate about physical and mental well-being. As a physiotherapist, he understands the importance of both physical activity and social connections in maintaining overall health. By taking on this remarkable feat, Craig aims to shed light on the pressing issue of loneliness that affects millions of people worldwide, including many in Australia.
"Loneliness is a silent suffering that has profound effects on mental and physical health," said Craig Donovan. "Through this journey, I hope to raise awareness and much needed funds for Friends for Good, an organisation that does incredible work in supporting individuals who feel isolated and disconnected. Together, we can make a difference and help build a more connected and compassionate community."
Friends for Good's Chair, Emmanuel Hart expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for Craig's commitment: "We are incredibly grateful to Craig for his dedication and creativity in supporting our cause. His journey is not just a physical challenge but a powerful statement about the importance of connection and community. We encourage everyone to follow Craig's progress and support his fundraising efforts."
Supporters can follow Craig's journey on social media through the account @scottishwheelbarrowadventure and on the Friends for Good website, where regular updates and photos will be available. Donations to support Craig's fundraiser for Friends for Good can be made directly here.
Friends for Good invites media, supporters, and the public to join in cheering Craig on and raising awareness about the vital work of combating loneliness. Together, we can support Craig's incredible journey and contribute to a more connected and caring society.
