In response to the pressing need for support among veterans facing social isolation, Friends for Good proudly unveils MateLine, a dedicated, free telephone service. Launching in April 2024, MateLine aims to provide vital support for veterans, fostering connection and friendship. It aims to assist in improving mental well-being.
Social isolation among veterans is a significant concern, with many individuals experiencing feelings of loneliness and disconnection upon returning to civilian life. Recognising this challenge, Friends for Good has taken proactive steps to address this issue head-on by establishing MateLine as a beacon of support and understanding.
"At Friends for Good, we understand the unique challenges that veterans face when transitioning to and in civilian life," said Emmanuel Hart, Chairperson of Friends for Good. "MateLine is not just a phone service; it's for veterans who may be struggling with social isolation. Through compassionate and confidential conversations, we aim to provide a sense of connection and belonging for all Australians who have served our country."
MateLine offers veterans a safe and confidential space to engage in meaningful conversations with trained volunteers who understand the complexities of military service and its aftermath. Whether veterans are seeking friendship, referrals, or simply a listening ear, MateLine is available to offer support without judgment.
